I founded Sohma House because I was tired of watching patients fall through the cracks of a system that treats symptoms in silos. Too many people were being managed — not healed. I wanted to build something different.
Sohma House is a specialist clinic in Cairns built for people navigating complex, chronic, and layered health presentations. One team. One plan. The kind of care that changes what’s possible.
We believe that the best clinicians burn out because they care with an intensity that most systems were never designed to hold. So we built a system that holds them too.
Healing is never one thing. It’s sleep, stress, hormones, gut, movement, history, context. That’s why we built a clinic where specialists share a plan, not just a waiting room. Where your case is on the table, not in a referral letter. Where nobody is interrupting you to write a script.
Not a 15-minute GP visit. Not a checklist. A real conversation.
Most clinics treat in silos. We treat in conversation.
Most patients juggle conflicting advice from three different practitioners. You won’t.
No 6-month waits. No falling through the cracks. We stay with you.
Patients become participants. Participants build community. Community sustains healing.
Most clinics have practitioners who happen to share a building. They share a waiting room, not a conversation.
At Sohma House, your care team meets regularly to discuss your case, test each other's assumptions, and build one plan they all stand behind. Every practitioner you see already knows your history, your goals, and what everyone else is doing. You never start from scratch.
For the first time, I didn’t have to explain everything from scratch. They already knew my history, my goals, what everyone else had tried. I could just be honest about where I was. That changed everything.
I’d been to specialists who were brilliant at one thing but had no idea what anyone else was doing. Sohma House was the first place where every practitioner was on the same page. Literally the same plan.
The follow-up alone is worth it. Every 3–4 weeks, they’re checking in, adjusting, refining. I’ve never had a healthcare team that stayed with me like this. You don’t fall through the cracks.
Initial consultations are $199 (30–45 minutes). Follow-ups are $99 (30 minutes). Extended follow-ups for complex care management are $149. Medicare rebates may apply if your GP provides a referral under a chronic disease management plan.
Our team specialises in complex, chronic, and layered health presentations. This includes conditions that don’t fit neatly into a single category, presentations with multiple contributing factors, and situations where conventional approaches have provided incomplete answers. If you’re unsure whether we can help, book a consultation and we’ll give you an honest assessment.
Most GP clinics operate on 10–15 minute consultations with a single practitioner. Sohma House operates on unhurried initial consultations with a multidisciplinary team. Your case is reviewed collaboratively, your plan is built by every discipline involved in your care, and your follow-up is frequent enough to refine treatment as you respond. We don’t treat in silos.
It depends on the complexity of your presentation. Some patients notice shifts within weeks. More complex conditions may take 2–3 months for meaningful change. We set measurable milestones at week 4 and week 8 so you always know what’s working and what needs adjusting. You will never hear “let’s see how you go.”
You can self-refer at any time. If your GP provides a referral under a chronic disease management plan, you may be eligible for Medicare rebates on your consultations.
Your first consultation is 60 minutes with your lead clinician. We take your full history, map the connections between your symptoms, and begin building a picture of what’s driving your presentation. You leave with clarity on next steps and a timeline for your care. Your case then goes to our team roundtable, where every discipline involved in your care reviews your picture and builds a unified plan.
A specialist team, a personalised plan, and the kind of care that changes what’s possible. This is what you’ve been looking for.
